Happy Spring! Can I have a puppy?

Happy spring! I’m celebrating spring today. Yes, I know it’s Easter. Yes, that’s why I’m celebrating spring.

My family is sort of Christian. Hilariously (and painfully), the part of my family that is actually Christian is not the part that hosts on Christian holidays. That falls to my house because I live with my mom and my grandfather. We host because this is still considered the grandparents’ home (my grandmother died several years ago after suffering from Alzheimer’s for nearly 10 years). The reason for that is a long story, but suffice it to say my mother rather unwillingly gets stuck as the hostess. Thankfully holidays have always been something of a potluck-style dinner.

Anyway, my family is going to invade my house in about 45 minutes. Some will come early, some will come late. I will inevitably be cranky by the time we get to eat because this family operates on their own time, which seems to be about a half hour to an hour behind everyone else. That means that when they say we’re going to eat at 3pm, we probably won’t eat until 3:30 (if we’re lucky) or 4.

Also inevitable: I will feel overwhelmed by the number of people in my home, I will want them to leave at about 5pm (they won’t), I will run away to my basement to be alone, I will hardly eat anything at dinner, and I will get annoyed at the number of questions about my job search.

I am celebrating spring today because I think Zombie Jesus Day is just plain silly. Since I’m stuck with a family gathering, a special dinner, and some sort of dessert anyway along with colored eggs and candy, I embrace the celebration as a celebration of spring. I may as well try to have fun with it (thus why I colored eggs, made a linzertorte and cinnamon rolls, and helped my mom get basket goodies for my nephew).

Happy Spring!

  1. Happy Easter! You’re puppy is waiting for you at the pound. πŸ˜‰

    • If only I could actually afford to raise a puppy right now/had a stable life with employment. I would totally go get a puppy from the humane society. I would even consider a rescue dog that could hardly be considered a puppy. At the same time, I think I’m just trying to replace my dog that died in February. 😦

      • Oh Gosh, I’m sorry to hear about the passing of your friend. I do know what you mean about not getting pets when your life is unstable. I had no pets for a long time, because I couldn’t afford them. …probably shouldn’t have my little pride of cats now, actually. Anyway, I hope things change and you get that pound puppy when you can. πŸ™‚
