This blog is mostly food now, but everything below is still true so I’m leaving it here.
I am an unabashed atheist with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Dickinson College. Thanks to a fair amount of advanced placement credits, I graduated a semester ahead of the class I matriculated with. Originally from the Twin Cities, I attended college in Pennsylvania.
I won the American Atheists Founders scholarship in 2011 for my atheist activism which included many pieces from my op/ed column in my college newspaper, the Dickinsonian. I also was awarded the runner-up prize for individual activist by the Secular Student Alliance in 2011. In 2009, a fellow student and I started Secularist Students United, the first freethought group at Dickinson College.
I am not a philosopher. I have taken a grand total of two philosophy courses – ethics and intro to philosophy. What this means is that comments full of philosophical mumbo-jumbo terms will probably just irritate me. I don’t write this blog to be irritated, thus irritating comments may disappear, never to be heard from again, much like a character in a children’s book from my childhood after he was eaten by his couch.
Contrary to the belief of some people that know of me, but have never met me, atheism is not the only thing I talk about.

Not sure where you are now, but have you ever run into Dickinson alum Jeanne Lopatto, in D.C.? We used to work together; great woman, always said nice things about Dickinson.
I’m in Minnesota. Haven’t run into her, but Dickinson alum usually say good things about the school. It’s far from perfect, but the further away I am, the more I appreciate the value of my education. 🙂
