Apparently my post, “Did Someone Give You a Cookie?” is spam-bait. I’ve gotten more spam comments on that one post in the last week than I’ve ever got on any single post*. My favorite part of this is the number of spam comments listing something to do with banana nut muffins:
*There’s been a huge jump in the amount of spam I’m getting. It’s June 10th and I’ve already gotten 112 spam comments. The highest I’ve ever gotten in an entire month is 63.

Huh. Do you think there is a correlation between people who bake and being susceptible to spam efforts? lol

Hi there…I posted 1 post about recipes and I got HEAPS of spam from all sorts of spammers with Banana Nut Muffins titles! I just checked online and found your post about it. I reacon its something to do with WordPress blog changes (we free users are now pretty much unprotected by WordPress) so a huge jump in the amount of spam is probably due to this. Just so you know you are not the only one being spammed by muffins 😉
i got inundated by them too—but in response to an article i posted about a friend’s suicide. i have posted about recipes—but didn’t hear from them then. first inundation was after my post about my friend’s suicide. i am getting 30-70 posts in my spam box per day from them.
